Reading 24-410, L style

24-410 · L

24
Nominal finish size in millimetres. The thread outside diameter T comes from the finish table.
410
Finish series. Its drawing specifies pitch, height, thread extent and other dimensions.
L
General-purpose packaging thread profile. The alternative M style is a modified buttress profile.

The neck dimensions

T
Outside diameter over the bottle thread.
E
Outside diameter of the neck under the thread.
I
Minimum opening diameter. An I minimum does not establish actual wall thickness.
H
Height from the finish top to the shoulder intersection of diameter T extended parallel to the axis.
S / K
First-thread offset and the selected profile’s gauge height.
P
Axial thread pitch, listed separately from the finish series number.

T and E are averages of two measurements 90° apart. Ovality is agreed with the container supplier and is not controlled by these diameter limits alone. I minimum provides filler-tube clearance; its concentricity relative to T and E is not specified.

L and M are packaging profiles

L uses symmetric 30° flanks. M uses 45° and 10° flanks, measured from the radial direction. Crest widths and corner radii vary with the drawing and thread count. The calculator uses those profile tables, including the smaller 12-thread-per-inch forms in SP-415.

Source basis and display units

The drawings print millimetre and inch values independently. Choose one drawing basis, then use either display unit. This preserves that basis’s limits and avoids combining independently rounded numbers. Explicit dimension tolerances override the title-block general tolerance; parenthesized (a) is a reference width.

What the neck drawing defines

The section shows a compatible nominal profile within the listed neck limits and uses I minimum for the opening. Thread lead-in, runout, bead, shoulder and sealing details are not fully defined by that section. Internal cap dimensions and the liner or sealing system need the closure supplier’s drawing.
